The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged the general public to ignore reports that it had started the sales of its 2017 UTME application forms - The Registrar of the examination body, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has expressed disappointment with the developmentWe have not started sales of 2017 UTME forms – JAMB some candidates writing JAMBThe Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged the general public to disregard the speculations that it had started the sales of its application forms for 2017 UTME.Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board’s Head, Media and Information, debunked the speculations in a statement on Sunday, December 4, in Lagos. JAMB set to scrap general cut-offs for UTME according to the statement, the Registrar of the examination body, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has expressed disappointment with the development and calls on Nigerians to ignore the claims. The statement read in part: “The public is hereby notified that JAMB has not commenced the sales of its application documents as advertised by some unknown and desperate persons.“They are to disregard any website or individuals claiming to be in possession of these documents and offering same for sales.“We are putting finishing touches to innovation and changes to ease the challenges associated with the procedure of application for the 2017 all Computer-Based Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.“We are looking forward to announcing the commencement of the sales of these documents very soon,’’ the statement quoted the registrar as saying. Jamb statement advised the public to feel free to contact the board for clarification on its activities through its website or contact numbers whenever they were in doubt.Recall that the examination body said it will adopt “pin vending”  for the 2017 UTME test.Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the head of media and information, said that it would no longer use scratch cards, adding that intending candidates to get familiar with the new approach.

Mother Fakes Son’s Kidnap To Extort N5m From Husband

A mother of two has been arrested by the Department of State Security Service for allegedly kidnapping her own son and demanding a ransom of N5 million from her husband. Security and family sources confirmed that the woman identified as Baraka, connived with one Rukayya and another accomplice who called the husband, pretending to be the kidnapper, and demanded the N5 million ransom. Police Public Relations Officer, Asp Bitrus Noam, confirmed the incident, saying the case was with the Department of State Security Service.
