A 35 -year-old man, Ibrahim Adamu, on Thursday dragged both his parents-in-law before the Magajin Gari Shari’a Court in Kaduna State, accusing them of foisting their already pregnant daughter on him in marriage. The defendants are Sani Dogon-Zikiri, his father-in-law and Laura Sani, his mother-in-law, both accused of deceit and breach of trust. The plaintiff, who resides at Rijjana village, told the court through his counsel, Mr. Hussaini Yakubu, that the defendants had deceitfully gotten their daughter married to him knowing she was already pregnant. The plaintiff also accused his wife, Nafisa Sani of allegedly conniving with her parents to deceive him. “The complainant and his wife had conducted a pregnancy test shortly after marriage which confirmed that she was two weeks pregnant before the wedding. The Federal Government and organised labour on Thursday finally agreed on the percentage increase on the consequential adjustment in workers ’ salaries as a result of the new minimum wage of N 30 ,000 . As the meeting reached an advanced stage , the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo , tweeted from the venue that both parties had reached an agreement, but he did not give details . The tweet read, “ After some delicate negotiations ( with both ministers as conciliators ) , the government and labour have finally reached an agreement on the consequential adjustment of other wages following the implementation of the enhanced minimum wage of N 30,000 . A 300-Level 'HND1'Mechanical Engineering student of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta in Ogun State, Olalekan Oladapo Ogunremi, was on Wednesday found guilty of criminal impersonation and sentenced to six months in prison. Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan had reduced the one year jail term to six months, following an appeal by the counsel to Ogunremi. The judge succumbed to his lawyer’s passionate plea that his client had missed two examination sessions owing to the criminal charge filed against him by the Ibadan zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The 21-year-old student had pleaded guilty to the one-count amended charge with which he was arraigned on Wednesday, consequent upon a plea bargain arrangement between him and the Commission. Ebonyi State Government is seeking to partner with Indian Government to establish an Electric Automobile Assembly plant in the state. To this end, Governor David Umahi, paid a visit to the Indian High Commission in Abuja on Wednesday where he was received by the High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Abhay Thakur. The Governor, according to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze was there to seek for partnership on importation and establishment of an assembling plant of Electric Mode Automobiles.  Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has said that the images , he has seen out of the Onitsha fire were heartbreaking . A loaded tanker on Wednesday spilled its content on the road at Upper Iweka Road in Onitsha.  The spillage led to a fire incident that resulted in the death of some people and the destruction of several buildings and business premises in the commercial centre . It was reported that men of the fire service couldn ’ t put out the fire when they arrived on the scene due to a faulty valve.  Reacting to the incident , Okowa via his verified Twitter handle .  He said , “ The tragic images coming out of Onitsha of the raging fires are truly heartbreaking .       Nigeria's senate during  a plenary session on Wednesday, blocked move to recognize Kogi as an oil-producing state.  The  lawmaker representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Senator Isaac Alfa had moved the motion titled, ‘Need to Recognise Kogi State as an Oil-Producing State’.       Residents of Awka in Anambra state were shocked after a woman stripped totally unclad to fight a young man in the capital city.       An Awka resident identified as Emmanuel who witnessed the shocking incident - revealed that the man had a disagreement with the lady ( a prostitute) over money for short time session.       The sex worker who put shame aside, stripped totally unclad to attack the man with a stone as she held him and refused to let go till she received her payment.  While the public drama was going on, passersby tried to seperate the clash between the duo but the lady refused as she vowed to 'kill the guy' if he doesn't pay her.        The incident which was caught on camera and is trending online, has seen many berate the guy for embarrassing himself with a sex worker in public.

  The National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress has suspended the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, for anti-party activities,Saturday PUNCH has learnt.      Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru Everest Amaefule, Abuja  Despite increased landing cost of petroleum products, Premium Motor Spirit will continue to sell at N145 per litre, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has said.  In a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday, NNPC Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, said that the corporation would continue to bear the cost of under-recovery of petrol through other sources.     Ughamadu said, “The Federal Government has made it clear; petrol will continue to sell at N145 per litre.        There are three categories of people that are excluded from benefitting from the newly signed Minimum Wage Repeal and Re-enactment Bill, 2019.      President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday signed the bill into law.        Those excluded are: Persons who are employing less than 25 workers; persons who work in a ship which sail out of the jurisdiction; persons who are in other kinds of regulated employment are exempted by the Act.     Sen. Orders immediate removal     The Enugu State Government has banned the unauthorised and indiscriminate erection of speed breakers, popularly known as bumps, on its asphalted roads across the state.  The ban was contained in a statement made by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Gabriel Ajah.       The state government stated that illegal speed breakers constitute devastating damage to the roads, adding that the practice in some cases leads to road accidents.  The statement referred to the unfortunate accident that involved the State Fire Service Truck on a distress call, which fell into a drainage while maneuvering over a bump along Obioma Road, in Udi Local Government Area.       The government, therefore, called on those and communities involved in the erection of the bumps to liaise with the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to have them removed before the end of May.  It added that “henceforth, any ...
