Kogi Election: Omede Idris Declares For Governorship Race

Senate Blocks Move To Recognise Kogi As An Oil-producing State.

      Nigeria's senate during  a plenary session on Wednesday, blocked move to recognize Kogi as an oil-producing state.  The  lawmaker representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Senator Isaac Alfa had moved the motion titled, ‘Need to Recognise Kogi State as an Oil-Producing State’. According to him, Shell BP (now SPDC), Elf (now Total Fina Elf) and Agip Energy commenced oil exploration  in   1952  in Odeke, Echeno, Ihile, Anocha/Uchuchu, Omabo, Ikah, Iregwu and Ujeh, all in Ibaji of the present day Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State.       According to him, the companies collectively drilled 25 exploration wells, two appraisal wells and eight core drill wells in  Anambra Basin, with the majority of the wells in Kogi State.He further alleged that  oil  exploration  in Kogi was abandoned until July 18, 2001 when a former governor of the state, Abubakar Audu, wrote to then-Group Managi...

APC didn't querry or suspend me from party, Akeredolu

      Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos     Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state on Saturday said he had not been suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).       Speaking with INDEPENDENT, he also insisted that he was neither issued a query as claimed by the party leadership nor has he received any letter to that effect.       In March, the governor was issued a query by the party leadership for “glaring anti-party activities, which greatly affected the fortunes of our candidates in the recently-conducted presidential and national assembly elections in the state.”       However, in a text message he personally sent to our correspondent on Saturday, the Governor said: “I have not received any letter be it query or suspension. UK-based Nigerian man was kicked out of the plane in UK earlier today for being rude. According to the video shared by HipTV, it was reported that the Nigerian man was too rude to the cabin crew and they had to call the airport police to kicked him out of the plane. Prostitute beats man in Akwa, Anambra Over Payment

      Residents of Awka in Anambra state were shocked after a woman stripped totally unclad to fight a young man in the capital city.       An Awka resident identified as Emmanuel who witnessed the shocking incident - revealed that the man had a disagreement with the lady ( a prostitute) over money for short time session.       The sex worker who put shame aside, stripped totally unclad to attack the man with a stone as she held him and refused to let go till she received her payment.  While the public drama was going on, passersby tried to seperate the clash between the duo but the lady refused as she vowed to 'kill the guy' if he doesn't pay her.        The incident which was caught on camera and is trending online, has seen many berate the guy for embarrassing himself with a sex worker in public.

APC NWC suspends Gov Akeredolu for antiparty

  The National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress has suspended the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, for anti-party activities,Saturday PUNCH has learnt. The party’s NWC had on March 1 resolved to issue a query to the governor over what it described as glaring anti-party activities.    In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Isa-Onilu, after a meeting presided over by the national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, the party had said the governor’s anti-party activities “greatly affected the fortunes of its candidates in the recently conducted presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.” Isa-Onilu had, in a recent interview withThe PUNCH, confirmed that the query had been sent to Akeredolu based on the directive of the NWC. NNPC: Fuel will continue to sell for 145 naira per litre

     Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru Everest Amaefule, Abuja  Despite increased landing cost of petroleum products, Premium Motor Spirit will continue to sell at N145 per litre, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has said.  In a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday, NNPC Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, said that the corporation would continue to bear the cost of under-recovery of petrol through other sources.     Ughamadu said, “The Federal Government has made it clear; petrol will continue to sell at N145 per litre. The three categories of people that will not benefit from 30,000 minimum wage

       There are three categories of people that are excluded from benefitting from the newly signed Minimum Wage Repeal and Re-enactment Bill, 2019.      President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday signed the bill into law.        Those excluded are: Persons who are employing less than 25 workers; persons who work in a ship which sail out of the jurisdiction; persons who are in other kinds of regulated employment are exempted by the Act.     Sen. 'Enugu Govt Bans Unapproved Speed Breakers On Roads'

Orders immediate removal     The Enugu State Government has banned the unauthorised and indiscriminate erection of speed breakers, popularly known as bumps, on its asphalted roads across the state.  The ban was contained in a statement made by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Gabriel Ajah.       The state government stated that illegal speed breakers constitute devastating damage to the roads, adding that the practice in some cases leads to road accidents.  The statement referred to the unfortunate accident that involved the State Fire Service Truck on a distress call, which fell into a drainage while maneuvering over a bump along Obioma Road, in Udi Local Government Area.       The government, therefore, called on those and communities involved in the erection of the bumps to liaise with the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to have them removed before the end of May.  It added that “henceforth, any ...
