The emergence of Dr. Tony Nwoye as candidate of the APC and Mr. Oseloka Obaze as the candidate of the PDP has brought to fore the reduced relevance of money as a factor in determining success in Anambra, analysts have said. Until now, Anambra had gained notoriety for the way money had been used to influence political ascension, especially in the PDP. Analysts have pointed out the zeal with which chieftains of political parties from other states lobbied to be appointed into election panels constituted by major political parties to supervise electoral contests in Anambra State. In one particular case few years ago, a prominent politician from the Middle Belt after taking up the chairmanship of the election panel for Anambra State relocated to Asaba in neighbouring Delta State where he settled to collect bribes to project aspirants who paid him.
